Over the last few days I have had the privilege of reading through the personal journal notes of a billionaire mentor of mine.

He has been a very powerful leader overseeing thousands of people and many rulers have sought his advice and input. Through wisdom and deep insight, he has also amassed a considerable amount of wealth.  Here is the advice I got from reading his journal: “Start with God-the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.”

It is none other than King Solomon, perhaps the richest man to ever walk on the face of the earth! These thoughts of his are captured in the book of Proverbs Chapter 1:7 MSG.

If King Solomon says this is the best starting point, the new year  is a good time to start reflecting on this.

This wise man clearly understood that this principle- “ it all starts with God”! Would it not be wise for us also to make sure that God is at the centre of our plans as we start this new year?
